Food is the fuel that runs our metabolic engines. But for many of us, we don’t just want it to be our fuel. We want it to be so much more than that.

While food literally makes us who we are physically – by providing the resources we need to repair and add new cells to our body – we also use food for other purposes as well. Humans have used food for millennia as a way to connect with other people, to build memories of some of the most important moments in our lives and even act as a bridge to experiencing different cultures or countries.

For example, we often celebrate with a meal – think Thanksgiving, Memorial Day or July 4th weekend parties, birthdays, the double whammy of wedding rehearsal dinners and receptions and often it is just used as way to bring us together with friends for a brunch or dinner get-together. We use it as a way to connect with different cultures as well.

For these reasons, food can be much more than just our fuel. At different moments, we want our food to be healthy, tasty, filling and satisfying. At other times, we want it to be us some momentary pleasure or solace. And we almost always want it to affordable, if not downright cheap. We want it to be easy to make or easy to get.

So how do we balance all of this? It’s not easy. At Add+Life, our goal is to bring a rotating set of recipes which can link you with different cooks and creators for healthy, delicious and straightforward to make dishes that will be cost conscious as well. We will do our best to make certain that these recipes meet our highest quality standards for nutritional value and can become a part of your wellness focused lifestyle.
